I’ve got my “new” laptop, and everything is working fine. I did this a few weeks ago once my new laptop had arrived, I just never updated my blog about it, since it was something small and not really worth a blog post. Even though its setup, I still have no camera to record a installation video from. It will be a HUGE task, so I need to plan it perfectly.
I will ask a friend if I could borrow a camera, but I will see if I would have to go elsewhere, even if it required renting it for a few days or weeks. But that would have to wait longer because I’m saving as much money as I can for my holiday in September.
I do still plan on doing the videos, I just don’t have the resources to actually DO it. I want a decent spec camera that is capable of at least 720p in order to pick up on smaller details (which is vital with the kind of video it will be.)
In other news, I’ve not been successful with a Lion install. I can’t even get the thing to begin. It fails instantly on the hardware check. Initially I had a problem with only having 1.5GB of RAM, instead of the minimum requirement of 2GB. So I did buy a new 1GB stick off eBay and actually replaced it in my laptop today. Still no luck. The installer now complains about incompatible processor. I’m not sure just exactly how the installer is checking the system, be it physically, or software by using hardware ID’s, model numbers etc. I’ve tried that theory by masking my system using a custom SMBios.plist – it still doesn’t work. My system is compatible, it defiantly is.
If anyone has any information that would help, please email me. Otherwise I won’t be doing a Lion install, I really can’t be bothered trying so hard for something that I don’t think is worth so much effort compared to Leopard to Snow Leopard was. I just wanted to see if I could get it working for a hobby and for my pleasure. My whole website is based on the idea of sharing information, while I’m having fun with it. A Lion install with this much hassle already, isn’t fun.
